Chairman of Max Institute and Max Super Specialty Hospital, DrPradeepChowbey, who has continuously featured in Limca Book of Records for 20 years in a row, has again featured in the 2019 edition of the book for two records.
Chowbey has made the world record of operating on World’sheaviest teenager and performing most number of laparoscopic surgeries- 80,000surgeries till date.
According to a Max Hospital statement, at 247 Kg (inDecember 2017), when Mihir Jain visited Chowbey, he was the heaviest teen inthe world and had a BMI of 92 Kg/m2. The patient was advised to reduce 40 Kgs,by undergoing an extremely restrictive, low calorie diet, before undergoingsurgery.
The 14-year-old Mihir Jain, weighing 196 Kg underwent asuccessful Gastric Bypass surgery at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket underthe care of Chowbey.
Chowbey also established the first dedicated department ofminimal access surgery in the Asian subcontinent in 1995 and training nearly1000 doctors in the science of laparoscopy throughout the world.
