A high-level official team led by Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K Dr Tej Partap today visited saffron areas of Pampore.

The farmers apprised the team about their difficulties.

While ensuring their full cooperation to the government agencies in implementation of the Saffron Mission, a government of India scheme, the farmers suggested that the installation of sprinkler system should only be carried out from May to August, so that there is no damage to the crop afterwards, an official statement said.

The farmers suggested that installation of sprinkler system should go simultaneously with bore-welling so that the irrigation facility is available to the farmers during the next season from August to October.

Other issues which came under discussion included participation of farmers in rejuvenation, post installation maintenance and upkeep of irrigation system.
