Members of Nageen Club Sunday held a meeting to discuss various issues pertaining to the functioning of the Kashmi’s famous club on the banks of the Nageen Lake.
According to a statement, the members in the meeting said,”The club is becoming a victim of the neglect and indifference.”
It was decided that a delegation of club members will meetKhurshid Ganai, the Adviser to the Governor, and bring these issues into hisnotice so that the club and the adjacent lake is saved from any damages.
“The members also discussed the matters related to theinappropriate upkeep and the improper facilities to the club members. Themembers discussed at threadbare the issue of marriage ceremonies which aretaking place in the club premises that are proving detrimental to the healthand environment of this club and the adjacent lake. The waste generated by themarriage ceremonies most importantly by slaughtering of livestock, culling ofpoultry and the leftover wazwan which finds its way straight in the lake isproving not only a threat to the very existence of this lake but is alsoinviting the attention of canines, kites and crows thus making the lake and itsadjutant areas environmentally fragile and vulnerable,” read the statement.
