Omar Abdullah expresses dismay over highway restrictions

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed dismay over the frequent intimidation and restrictions on the sole highway connecting Kashmir with the rest of country.

 “The party is privyto the difficulties the people of the state are facing in wake of the recklesshighway ban. The marginalized traders, the fruit growers are in particular atthe receiving end of it.  Our party hasbeen raising the issue at all appropriate forums. Our parliament members arecontinuously raising the issues concerning the state in the parliament,” OmarAbdullah said while interacting with a delegation of fruit growers from Sopore,according to an NC statement.

   

The fruit growers’ delegation that had called the party vicepresident at his residence apprised him about the range of difficulties theyare facing in wake of restrictions on national highway.

Party vice president, according the statement, assured thevisiting delegation that he will take up their issues at appropriate forumsparticularly to expedite the movement of fruit laden trucks on priority basison the national highway.
