PAB sanctions Rs 368 cr for SSA mission in JK

Jammu, Apr 28: An amount of Rs 368 crore has been sanctioned under centrally sponsored SSA mission for current financial year for Jammu and Kashmir state, an official statement said.
Approval to this regard, the statement said, was given at a Plan Approval Board meeting held here today under the Chairmanship of Union Secretary for elementary education.
Addressing the meeting Union Secretary Elementary Education appreciated the efforts of state government for implementation of SSA programme. He lauded the deep commitment of the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir for Universalization of education displayed by him while conducting enrollment drives personally. He said state is developing a clear vision of propagation of elementary education and leading it in the right direction.
An amount of Rs.173 crore was sanctioned for construction of schools. Rs 18.61 crore was sanctioned for providing education to out of school children. Rs 24.26 crore was sanctioned for improving the learning environment in the schools and free textbooks for girls and SC/ST boys.
An amount of Rs. 18 crore was sanctioned for improving the quality of education by way of training teachers. Funds were also sanctioned for education of disabled children, computer education, girl’s education and pre-primary education.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development also lauded the efforts of the state for establishing Primary Schools and EGS centres in all habitations of the state and for appointment of teachers and education volunteers in highly transparent manner eliminating any scope of corruption in this respect. The Ministry assured its continuous and unflinching support to the elementary education in the state so as to improve the human development indicators in the state.
