Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce, Ranjan Prakash Thakur Saturday visited the newly opened Experience Centre-cum-Sales outlet of JKI at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu.
According to an official handout, Managing Director JKI, Sanjay Handoo briefed Thakur about the facility set up for the display and sale of furniture and wool and silk products being manufactured at units of JKI located in Jammu and Kashmir.
It was also informed that the centre has become an attraction for the local people of Jammu city who otherwise found it difficult and cumbersome to visit the manufacturing units of JKI located in the Industrial Estate of Bari Brahmanna Jammu for buying the products, the statement said.
The Principal Secretary was also briefed about the efforts being made by the organization for increasing its marketing outreach such as creation of brochures, catalogues and through tie ups with various e market platforms such as Amazon.
Besides, to cater to the government market, the process of registration on GeM has been initiated and the process is likely to be completed soon, it was told.
The Principal Secretary was also briefed about the current activities which are being undertaken for the revival of JKI particularly about the ongoing work undertaken under the World Bank funded Jehlum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP) at Government Silk Factory Rajbagh and Woolen Mills Bemina.
