Promoting Kashmir tourism outside

Shah who is also holding additional charge of Director Tourism Kashmir made a fervent appeal to people to visit Kashmir during Travel and Tourism Fair in Mumbai.

Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation, Farooq Shah Thursday urged the tourisms players across the country to promote Kashmir as tourist destination. 

Shah who is also holding additional charge of Director Tourism Kashmir made a fervent appeal to people to visit Kashmir during Travel and Tourism Fair in Mumbai.

"There is misconception about Kashmir post-floods that the place is not safe. But I want to assure you that it is one of best tourism destinations and flood has impacted few areas but rest of the tourism destination remained untouched by floods," he said while  interacting with travelers in Mumbai during Travel and Tourism Fair— India’s largest travel network.

Shah acknowledged tourists inflow to Kashmir has not picked up post floods But he insisted to travel agents present in the fair, that "We have to convey the message to across the world that the premier tourist destinations in Kashmir were not affected by floods. The health resort Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s, world famous ski resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir, Sonamarg and other renowned hotels, restaurants and other tourism infrastructure remained untouched during deluge,” he added.

Shah impressed upon the travel agents, officials and other stakeholders of tourism across the country to encourage tourists to visit Valley.

Director tourism on the occasion personally met all the travel agents and tourism traders present in the fair and assured them of all possible assistance from Tourism Department. 

Later, interacting with the tourism stake holders of Jammu and Kashmir, Shah assured them that their grievances would be redressed.

He also announced that ‘renewal of registrations’ which is currently being done by tourism stakeholders after every one year, would be now kept for minimum period of five years.

Speaking on the occasion, Convener, JK PLTOF Nasir Shah also assured full cooperation to the authorities in promoting the Kashmir tourism.

Others present on the occasion included,President KHAROF GM Dug, Chairman J&K Hoteliers Club Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, President TASK Showkat Pakhtoon, President TAAK Pirzada Fayaz, President AKTO Mir Nazir Ahmad, Chairman JKTA Manzoor Pakhtoon, President DTOAK Haji Abdul Hamid Wangnoo, Secretary General TTIG Zahoor Karnai, Chairman TAAI-JKC Shamim Shah, President Ladakh Hotels Association Motup, President Jammu Travel Agents Association Rajesh Gupta.

Besides other members from tourism bodies were present on the occasion.
