Register farmer interest groups in districts: Dir Horticulture to CHOs

Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Wednesday held a meeting to review the functioning of the horticulture sector in Kashmir.

Joint Director Horticulture Kashmir, Deputy Director Centraland Chief Horticulture Officer of Kashmir valley as well as Farm Manager, ACHDRajbagh/Zainapora, Horticulture Information & Publication Officer&Analyst, SALAL were present in the meeting.

   

During the meeting, all the Chief Horticulture Officers(CHO) were directed to identify the small and marginal farmers to be coveredunder high-density plantation programme in the next five years. The issueregarding Farmers Interest Group to establish CA store(s) on a cooperativebasis was discussed in the meeting and it was impressed upon chief horticultureofficers Anantnag, Shopian, Kulgam, Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora to make agroup of farmers and also register such groups under the Society Act.

All Chief Horticulture Officers were directed to provide thelist of orchardists uploaded on the portal under PM-Kissan.

CHOs were impressed to conduct training/awareness atBlock/tehsil levels so that farming community is provided technical know-how inthe field of horticulture. CHOs were directed to ensure frequent irrigation torootstock in departmental nurseries. Farm Manager Rajbagh was also directed toensure irrigation and support system to high-density plants planted in front ofDirectorate of Horticulture. Directorfurther directed all the concerned to address the issues of the growers raisedby the orchardists in already created WhatsApp groups in respective districts.
