Rs. 4.58 cr tax collected from Valley 492 dealers

Srinagar: The Department of Commercial Taxes (Recovery), Kashmir has collected a record of Rs 4.58 crore from 492 dealers of Kashmir during the last financial year.
This was informed by Collector/Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Recovery), Kashmir division, Farooq Ahmad Khan has been possible due to the support of the public in general and cooperation of the Kashmir federation of traders and J&K Chamber of Commerce and Industries in particular.
During the year the collectorate attached 75 shops and arrested three persons to recover the arrears under Land Revenue Act. The Collectorate is gearing up itself to recover all the arrears from the defaulters. The collectorate has requested the government for posting of two Commercial Tax Officers, Six inspectors, 10 Sub Inspectors and two additional vehicle to meet the target fixed for the year 2006-2007. The records of this collectorate are being computerized for the convenience for the convenience of the dealers. (INF)
