Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Wednesday visited the Industrial Estate Khonmoh to assess the damage from a fire incident that gutted a cardboard manufacturing unit there.
The unit holders at the industrial estate while interacting with the DC on the occasion rued the lack of fire station or fire hydrants inside the industrial estate.
The DC sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for a dedicated fire tender for the industrial estate on the spot and also assured of taking up requirements of additional infrastructure with the concerned quarters.
Joint Director F&ES was asked to provide technical staff for management of the equipment and machinery to be provided by the district administration.
Meanwhile Director Industries and Commerce, Mahmood Ahmad Shah along with Managing Director SIDCO, Ravinder Kumar on Wednesday visited Industrial Estate Khonmoh to take stock of the fire incident.
A corrugated cardboard box manufacturing unit M/s Valley Packings was completely gutted in a fire incident causing huge loss to the unit holder. The unit had a capacity to produce 72 lakh corrugated cardboard boxes per annum.
During the visit, both the officers met with the local association of the unit holders.
