SKUAST-K’s Directorate of Extension in collaboration with NABARD held daylong training on sensitisation of extension functionaries for promotion of farmer-producer organisations (FPOs).
The programme was chaired by Director Extension SKUAST-KProf Mushtaq Ahmad and attended by Qamar Javaid DGM, NABARD, AssociateDirectors,Chief / District level Officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, AnimalHusbandry, HPMC, Sheep Husbandry, Scientists of Directorate of Extension, andheads of various KVKs of Kashmir.
The training cum workshop was organized to create awarenessregarding the promotion of FPOs. While inaugurating the programme, the chairmandeliberated on the importance of Farmer-Producer Organizations and their rolein the present agricultural scenario in Kashmir and Ladakh.
Qamar Javaid, DGM, NABARD Srinagar gave an outline of theformation of FPOs, role of producer organisation promotion institutes (POPIs)and also the support available through NABARD.
