Spurious pesticides: Horticulture department holds awareness for HDOs

Horticulture department on Monday held an awareness programme regarding procedures adopted for collection of pesticide samples and other provisions for law enforcement on spurious and substandard pesticides.

The programme was attended by the designated enforcementinspectors (HDOs) of horticulture department, a statement of the departmentsaid.

   

Deputy director law enforcement wing of agriculturedepartment Anil Nargotra, who was the resource person at the programme,deliberated on the issues of law enforcement regulations in the field whiledrawings samples from the pesticides dealers/distributers/retailers for itsanalysis in the designated laboratories of the country.

The resource person appraised the session about the variousstandard operations vital from stand point of view, making enforcement agencyto come to the expectations of the growers.

, Director Horticulture, Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, at theoccasion, said that the designated inspectors shall work honestly and sincerelyso as to plug the violations, if any exercised in the market by the pesticidedealers/retailers and timely action shall be taken against the culprits underthe regulations of the Insecticides Act, 1968.

He asked the inspectors to make frequent checks in themarket in their jurisdiction for strictly plugging the sale of spuriouschemicals. “The inspectors shall not give any chance to the offenders to cashin the situation with the sale of spurious pesticides, with a view to save thefruit growers/orchardists from the clutches of law enforcement violators,” hesaid.
