S State pensioners and senior citizens held May Day celebrations at Ahata Waqar, Chanpora on Wednesday.
Chiefspokesman of J&K Pensioners and Senior Citizens Association Nissar Ali Mirconducted the proceedings and state secretary Mir Muhammad Ashraf highlighted theimportance of Chicago Day and the massacre of shawl workers by Dogra Maharaja’sarmy in Zaldagar, Srinagar.
Adnan Syed, secretary legal services J&K, who is incharge of Senior Citizens Welfare and Legal Help appreciated the efforts of theassociation in organising the function.
Sampath Prakash,president of the association, explained its structure and objectives. He calledfor releasing 6th and 7th Pay Commission benefits and legal facilities forpensioners. Others who participated in the function are Mohiuddin Bhat, HajiSheikh Muhammad Sidiq and GM Parray.
