Sunjak hydel project to be completed this year

Jammu: A cumulative expenditure of Rs. 1322.53 lakh has been incurred on Sunjak Small Hydel project ending January, 2006.
This was stated by the Minister for Power, Nawang Rigzin Jora in reply to a question of Nasrullah in Legislative Council on Saturday. He said the construction of the Project of 0.26 MW capacity was started in July 1988 and was scheduled to be commissioned in August 1996. However, on the advice of the consultants, M/S Tata Consultants the design of the said project was changed and upgraded to 1.26 MW.
The original estimated cost of the project was Rs. 762.12 lakh, which, however, after affecting the change in the design worked out to Rs. 1424 lakh. The 95 percent of the civil works of the project are complete.
In addition the 50 percent of electric/mechanical works are also complete by now. The revised time schedule for completion of the project is expected to be during 2006. (INF)
