Casual labourers engaged in Tourism Department, Kashmir on Saturday appealed the Governor SP Malik to intervene and directed concerned authorities for releasing their withheld wages.
The group of aggrieved casual labourers said their wages are withheld from July 2014.
These labourers said they have repeatedly taken up the matter with concerned authorities. “But despite assurances, our salaries have not been released so far. Our pleas have fallen on deaf ears,” said one of the labourers.
“For almost five years now, we have not received a single penny. We fail to understand, why our salaries have been withheld without any justification,” they said.
They appealed Governor SP Malik to personally look into the matter and issue directions to concerned authorities for release of their wages.
