Train youth for activities in silk sector: Advisor Skandan to JKI

Advisor to Governor, K Skandan Sunday directed the JKI for training local youth for various activities in silk sector.

According to an official spokesperson, Skandan passed thedirections during a visit to J&K Industrial Estate Bari Brahmana. Theadvisor, who was accompanied by the Director Industries, Jammu, Anoo Malhotraand Managing Director JKI, Javid Iqbal during the visit inspected GovernmentJoinery Mill, Government Silk Filatures and Government Silk Weaving Factory atthe estates.

   

While lauding the products being manufactured and displayedby the Joinery Mill, the advisor, according to an official spokesperson, calledfor wider publicity of the product range for the knowledge of the customers. Hestressed the need for maintaining the quality parameters and efforts to enhancethe outreach of products in the market on competitive rates.

While inspecting the newly installed machinery in both thefilature and the weaving factories, the advisor was informed that the JKI wouldbe procuring cocoons from the farmers through auction market being conducted bythe Sericulture Department within next fortnight. He was further informed thatthe intervention of JKI in the cocoon market would directly benefit a largersection of farming community.

Skandan called for bringing the Silk Waving Factory intoproduction at the earliest. He also directed the JKI to take immediate stepsfor training the local youth in various activities of the silk sector byexploring possibilities of training youth through the Technical EducationDepartment.

Later, the advisor visited the upcoming JKEDI complex atBari Brahmana comprising Administrative Building, Centre for Training and SkillDevelopment Centre (CTSD), Public Relation & Model Counselling Centre,Guest House Building Hostel Building. It was informed that the administrativeblock was already functional and the Guest House is also complete and thefurnishing part is being taken up.

President Industrial Association Bari- Brahmana, LalitMahajan, President Pharmaceutical Association, Satish Koul, Senior VicePresident Bari Brahmana Association, Tarun Singla, Secretary Bari BrahmanaIndustrial Association, Ajay Langar, and Secretary Industrial Association BariBrahman, Rajesh Jain met the advisor and apprised him about the issues of theIndustrial Estate.The advisor informed the members of theassociations about the upcoming Investors’ Meet and advised them to put upproposals for investment in the state.
