Training on remote sensing, GIS begins at SKUAST-K

Prof Sheikh Bilal Ahmad outlined the importance of GIS in Agricultural system and emerging dimensions of this technology in assessing land use and land cover change.

A two-week training program on “Applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in Natural Resource Management today commenced at the Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K, BenhamaGanderbal. 

Participants from different institutes across the state are participating in the training which include Department of Sheep Husbandy, Leh, State Forest Department, different faculties of SKUAST Kashmir including Veterinary Sciences, Horticulture, Agriculture and Forestry, a spokesperson of the varsity said. 

Director Research, SKUAST, Prof MY Zargar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, expressed need of this emerging technology in agricultural sciences and suggested for realignment of statistical data with the results provided by remote sensing.
