Unemployed youth to get preference in high density apple projects

Director Horticulture, Kashmir, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat Saturday chaired a meeting to take stock of various developmental activities and programmes being undertaken in horticulture sector Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts.

According to an official spokesperson, the meeting wasattended by Deputy Director Horticulture Kashmir, Chief Horticulture Officersof concerned Districts, Executive Engineer (P&M), District and Zonalofficers.

   

During the meeting, the director took a comprehensive reviewof horticultural and allied activities wherein he was briefed by the concernedChief Horticulture Officers with regard to the functioning of the sector intheir respective districts.

He took a detailed stock of high-density plantationprogramme during which Chief Horticulture Officers were directed to identifythe small and marginal farmers to be covered under high-density plantationprogramme. The director also stressed on preparing a comprehensive list ofpotential beneficiaries that can be covered under the programme. Moreover, hedirected the farm managers to give preference to the unemployed graduates underthe initiative.

Difficulties and bottlenecks being faced by the officers inthe implementation of schemes were also discussed and measures were suggestedto be adopted to overcome the obstacles for better results. While reviewing thedevelopmental projects, the Director instructed the officers for ensuringcompletion of earmarked projects within stipulated time frame for the benefitsof farmers/growers.

Aijaz Bhat stressed for conducting field visits so thatfeedbacks, grievances and other related issues of the farmers/orchardists areprojected. He exhorted upon the CHOs to conduct training/awareness atBlock/tehsil levels so that farming community is provided technical know-how inthe field of Horticulture.
