Private transporters whose vehicles were utilized by the government during election period today said they were still awaiting the payment.
Speaking on their behalf, chairman Western Bus Service Batamaloo Association, Haji Bashir Ahmad in a statement said that many transporters/owners whose vehicles were hired by the government for election duty had been made to suffer for want of payment.
He said the vehicles were hired by the government more than a month ago, yet the payment was still awaited.
He said the transporters in the wake of floods had suffered huge losses. “Many vehicles were damaged during the election duty,” he said.
He said the transporters incur huge expenditures in terms of providing for insurance premium and taxes. Ahmad meanwhile appealed the Governor for his personal intervention to safeguard the interests of the transporters.
