100 underprivileged rural women get training in food processing

In a bid to make underprivileged women folk residing in rural areas self reliant, Department of Horticulture, Jammu imparted month-long training in food processing, pickle and jam making to 100 women of Rounda and Diggi Panchayats of Bhadarwah under Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme.

The Director, Horticulture, along with Chief Horticulture Doda and Nodal officer felicitated the female participants by distributing certificates among them for successfully completing the month long training. The felicitation programme was held at Panchayat house Rounda on Monday.

   

Rounda and Diggi Panchayats are located on the eastern hills of Bhaderwah valley, 14 km from the town and is known as Fruit and vegetable hub of Additional District Bhadarwah.

To tap the potential of these Panchayts and to increase the income of fruit and vegetable growers especially women folk, the Horticulture department organised one month training programme for the under privileged females, so that they can process the surplus fruits and vegetables by converting them into pickles, jam, Juice and jelly.
