3 dead, 12 injured as car plunges into gorge in Ramban

Three persons died while twelve others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a gorge, near Chanderkote in Ramban district on Wednesday.

The police said, “A Tempo Traveler, JK02AW 0657, en route toBanihal from Jammu, skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway after thedriver lost control and plunged into Kunfer Nallah.”

   

As a result, they said, the driver died on the spot.

After receiving information, locals and police launched arescue operation and shifted all the injured to District Hospital Ramban, wheretwo of them were declared as brought dead, they said.

Meanwhile, six grievously injured persons were referred toGovernment Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for specialized treatment.

Police identified the deceased as Khalid Ahmed, son of AbdulGani Mir of Houchak Pogal, and Sanjay Kumar, 30, son of Romesh Kumar ofHaryana. The identity of the third deceased had not been ascertained till thisreport was filed.

Meanwhile, the injured have been identified as ParshadYadav, 22, Muhammad Alam, 25, Zakir Mir, 35, Ansar-ul-Haq, 13, Belshoo Ram, 35,and Shanker Yadav, 30, all residents of Bihar, Sandeep Singh, 23, and Sukhdev,29, of Rajasthan, Iqram Kohli, 19, of Bantalab, Jammu, Wazir, 29, of Haryana,Owais, 17, of Baramulla, and Varinder Kumar, 30, of Jammu.
