3 drug peddlers arrested, 26 kg poppy straw, 400 gm charas recovered

Three drug peddlers were today apprehended by Ramban Police from two different places in Ramban district.

The spokesman said that a truck bearing registration number JK03B-8621 which was on its way to Jammu was intercepted by police party of Batote Police Station at Nashri.

   

During checking 26 Kilogram of poppy straw concealed in the truck was recovered by the police.

The operation was conducted on specific information received from reliable sources, the spokesman said.

They said that driver Abid son of Manzoor Ahmed and conductor Irfan son of Abdul Rehman both residents of Baramullah Kashmir were arrested on the spot.

An FIR under NDPS Act has been registered. 

In similar case, Banihal Police apprehended one drug peddler Muzaffar Ahmed son of Nazir Ahmed Khatana resident of Gupthal Doligam Banihal and recovered 400 grams of cannabis (charas) from his possesion near T- Chowk Banihal.

He has been booked vide FIR number 59 under section 8/20 of NDPS Act, the spokesman said.

The arrest was made under the supervision of SHO Banihal, Mohammad Aijaz, SDPO Banihal, Dhreeraj Singh, DSP headquarter Ramban, Tousif Ahmed and SSP Ramban, Mohan Lal.
