3 killed, 10 injured in Doda road accident

Three persons were killed and 10 other injured, three of them seriously, when an overloaded passenger vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into deep gorge at Khelleni area of Doda district, late Thursday night.

The vehicle (Tavera cab), carrying 13 passengers, was on way from Jammu to Bhalla, when the driver lost its control while negotiating a sharp curve near Khaleeni Nallah.

Reports said that police party rushed to the spot, and along with locals and volunteers, started rescue operation. All 13 persons including driver were shifted to the District Hospital Doda, where doctors declared three of them brought dead while three other persons had suffered critical injuries, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Badal, son of Bhushan Kumar; Ashwani Kumar, son of Madan Lal and Chanku Ram son of Bhagat Ram – all residents of Kumari, Bhalla.

The injured included five from one family-  Bhushan Kumar (35) and his wife Utma Devi (35) and their two sons and daughter – Boby(4), Akshay Kumar (10) and Sheetal Devi. Other injured were identified as Raj Kumar (28), Mintu Kumar (28), Suresh Kumar (25), Arti Devi (22) and her sister Soni Devi (25).
