3 school children killed in Ramban accident

Three school children were killed, one is missing and four others including driver sustained grievous injuries after the tipper they were travelling in on Karool Kumait link road in Ramban skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab here Tuesday afternoon.

Sources and locals said the driver of the tipper being localresident of Kundi area was ferrying children along with his two children fortheir respective homes after attending the school.

   

Police said a tipper enroute village Kundi from Karool wentout of control near degree college road crossing and rolled down river Chenab.Two school children identified as Manjeet Singh son of Lehar Singh (7) andPooja Devi daughter of Pardeep Singh (14) died on spot, one child identified asGovrav Singh (16) son of Manmohan Singh succumbed to injuries at districthospital. Ajay Singh (17) son of Manmohan Singh is missing.

Two children and driver of the tipper were admitted indistrict hospital Ramban whereas one critically injured Joyti Devi 14 daughterof Pardeep Singh was referred to Government Medical Collage and Hospital Jammu.

Three injured were identified as driver Manmohan Singh 50son of Shivsaran Singh, Saroopa 9 daughter of Pardeep Singh, Kamlesha Kumari 15daughter of Dhram Singh, all residents of Kundi Karool.

SSP Ramban Anita Sharma said police have launched a searchoperation to trace the missing child.
