Aggrieved Gool residents vote for development of their area

Scores of aggrieved aggrieved residents of Panchyat Kalimasta and Kunchi on demanding development on Frinday ended up in polling stations.

According to eyewitnesses, scores of residents held protest demonstrations on polling day in Gool, DDC constituency elections—alleging that the government hasn’t done anything to their areas on the developmental front.

Scores of residents carrying banners and ply cards held a demonstration rally demanding road connectivity to the villages. The protestors were later pursued by the local officers to exercise their franchise and elect their representatives on merit basis during the ongoing DDC elections.

Later the aggrieved villagers end up in polling stations. The officials said that the they (locals) initially boycotted the voting for a few hours later at the intervention of sub-divisional administration Gool participated in the elections and exercised their right to franchise.

They alleged the villages were ignored by the administration and local politicians by taking residents of these two villages for a ride. Officers from sub district administration claimed that more than 67 per cent voters were polled despite initial threat of boycott in the election exercise.
