Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday organized a ‘Shardhanjali programme’ at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School, here in Kishtwar, to pay tributes to late RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on April 9.
The program was organized by the Sanathan Dharam Sabha and thousands of people, including men, women, children and senior citizens participated in it. Senior BJP leaders, including the party’s state president Ravinder Raina, Bali Bhagat, Shakti Raj Parihar and Sunil Kumar Sharma were also present on the occasion.
The participants put forth several demands before the state administration, among which security remained on priority.
While accusing the local police and administration of “failing to protect people”, the BJP women wing leader, Surekha Sen, demanded the installation of bunkers at all sensitive places of town, installation of CCTV camera at public places and increasing the number of village defense committees across the district.
