Body fished out from Ramban stream

A body was fished out from Bislari Nallah at Sherbibi in Ramban district on Wednesday.

Police said a vehicle bearing registration number HR38-1633 was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu when it met with an accident at Sherbibi on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

   

Police said that the vehicle slipped into Bislari Nallah on Sunday night between Sherbibi-Chambalwass sector of the Srinagar-Jammu highway and one person got injured while the driver of the vehicle drowned.

After the accident, Police and volunteers of local QRT rescued the injured Sumit Singh who informed them that the driver and cleaner of the vehicle were missing following which rescue operation was launched to trace the driver of the vehicle.

On Wednesday morning, Police with the help of local volunteers recovered the floating body of the deceased driver whom Police identified as 22-year-old Monu, son of Dhramveer Jat of Hissar Haryana and shifted him to Sub District Hospital Banihal for conducting postmortem and other medico-legal formalities.

Later, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs.
