Ramban unit of the All J&K plus two lecturers organisation today expressed resentment against the practice of assigning exam duties to teachers and lecturers without taking cadres and seniority of officials into consideration.
The district working committee said masters were given preference over lecturers by the authorities while assigning duties for examination of higher secondary classes as superintendents, deputy superintendents and members of vigilance squads.
"Despite several representations the JKBOSE is again throwing all norms and criteria to wind by appointing master grade teachers as deputy superintendents which is a violation of its own set norms. Although the department has enough number of lecturers in the district who can conduct the exam fairly but appointing masters as dy superintendents is beyond logic", the statement said.
"Masters are supposed to teach at secondary level and they have no concern with the senior secondary level so they are not entitled to conduct 12th class examination under norms. It was observed that the seniority of lecturers is blatantly compromised in exam duties at the behest of vested interests, which is detrimental to the fair conduct of examination. The seniors are supposed to perform exam duties under their juniors which is also against the dignity and respect of the officers", the statement said.
"The examination process and atmosphere has been polluted by repeatedly appointing the same masters and lecturers for exam duties and that too as per their desire and convenience. The Committee members also highlighted that instead of recommending senior lecturers for vigilance squads, juniors have been recommended and few some of them have even been disqualified in the past", they alleged.
