Clashes erupt in Kishtwar during RSS leader’s cremation

People took to road in large numbers in defiance of curfew restrictions and clashed with police during the funeral of senior RSS functionary Chanderkant Sharma who was shot dead on Tuesday along with PSO Rajinder Kumar by militants inside a government-run district hospital.

Sharma’s mortal remains were consigned to flames amidst slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Senior state RSS and BJP functionaries were present on the occasion.

   

They included RSS prant pracharak Rupesh Kumar, state BJP president Ravinder Raina and Legislative Assembly Speaker Nirmal Singh. Former J&K minister and Ex MLA Kishtwar Suneel Kumar Sharma, demanded strict government policy to deal with militancy and to save the lives of the ordinary people in the area. “There is threat to the minority community in Kishtwar”, he said in statement.
