The commuters, drivers and people of Ramban and Banihal expressed concern about the dilapidated condition of Jammu-Srinagar highway, especially in Ramban.
They complained, “We are worried about the condition of the highway as it has been damaged at various stretches, which causes road accidents. Deep ditches, broken patches and heaps of soil can be seen on the highway, between Ramban and Banihal.”
The drivers complained that in such circumstances, road accidents are very common and bound to occur. “The vehicles plying on the highway develop snags due to excessive wear and tear. This is the main reason behind a lot of trucks and heavy passenger busses breaking down on the road,” they said.
