Damaged footbridge in Ramban leaves many villages disconnected

Residents of several villages here accrued the authorities of failing to repair a footbridge over Bislari stream at Panthayl. 

The residents ofPanchyat, Maroog and Panthyal villages said the footbridge constructed by RuralDevelopment Department (RDD) some 10 years ago was the vital link to manyvillages with the outside world and would connect the habitations withJammu-Srinagar National Highway near Panthyal.

   

“Peopleswould prefer to take this bridge to escape the danger of shooting stones, butunfortunately authorities have abandoned it,” said a local.

He said the authorities were sitting over compelting theearth filling work on both sides of the bridge, leaving it defunct.

A delegation of residents said the elected villagerepresentatives appealed to district administration to complete the pendingwork on the bridge repeatedly, but to no avail.
