Day 2: Sarpanchs continue to agitate

Sarpanchs and panchayat representatives Friday continued to protest against the district developmental commissioner Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana, for allegedly “misbehaving” with a sarpanch of Lopara Panchayat for the second consecutive day, here in Kishtwar.

On Friday, the demonstration was held outside themini-secretariat, Kishtwar, and the protesters blocked the entry gate ofmini-secretariat. They raised slogans against the DDC and demanded that heshould be immediately transferred.

   

Meanwhile, the protesters were called on by the observerappointed for Lok Sabha elections, who assured action.

Furthermore, the district magistrate (DM), Kishtwar, AngrezSingh Rana, imposed section 144CrPC in and around mini-secretariat Kishtwar forsmooth functioning of elections process and maintenance of proper law andorder. By imposing 144 CrPC, assembly of five or more persons in and aroundmini-secretariat is prohibited. No one shall join or take out any procession orhold public meeting in the vicinity of the mini-secretariat.

“I have issued the order keeping in view the prevailingsituation created by some miscreants in and around mini-secretariatKishtwar,” Rana told Greater Kashmir.
