Dilapidated roads irk Ramban residents

The dilapidated roads across Ramban district have irked the residents, who blame the “government and its apathy for their suffering”.

The residents alleged, “The condition of Jammu-Srinagarhighway as well as the interior roads, which lead to different tehsils, blocksand villages, is going from bad to worse with each passing day. We have neverseen the roads to be in such a bad condition.”

   

While blaming the government, the agitated residents said, “The roads seem to have been left on God’s mercy. It seems as if the concerned department is not bothered about our sufferings.”

They added that the link road from Chambalwass to Neel,Nachlana to Khari, Khari to Mahumangit, Magarkote to Ukhral Alinbass,Chanderkote power house to Rajgarh, Kanga to Gandhari, Sangaldan to Thatarka,Maitra to Sawni, and Karool to Kundi Gool Deda, among several others are inpitiable condition.

Meanwhile, the transporters, while registering theirgrievances, asked, “We pay heavy taxes and other fees, but what do we get inreturn? Dilapidated roads damage our vehicles and we are forced to pay forfacilities that are not even there. Why should we continue to pay road tax?”

The residents appealed to the district administration tointervene and redress their grievances.
