Div Com, IGP Jammu review law and order situation

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) M K Sinha visited district Kishtwar Sunday and convened a joint meeting with officers of the civil and the police administrations, the Army and the CRPF.

The meeting reviewed the law and order situation in thedistrict.

   

Deputy Inspector General of Police DKR Range Bhim Sen Tuti,Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana, SSP Kishtwar, Shakti KumarPathak, ADDC Kishtwar, ACR Kishtwar, besides officers from the Police, theCRPF, the Army and the civil administration were present.

The DC Kishtwar briefed the meeting about the law and ordersituation in the district.

The IGP Jammu said the police will take stern action againstthose who indulge in any type of violence and try to disturb the peacefulenvironment in the district, sources said.

Later, the Div Com and the IGP Jammu visited DC OfficeKishtwar and took stock of damage caused to the government property by a mobyesterday.

The IGP asked the DC Kishtwar to ensure early fencing of theDC Office Complex Kishtwar to avoid any untoward incident in future.

The Div Com directed the deputy CMO Kishtwar Dr. Yaqoob Mirto keep necessary stock of emergency medicines available, besidesmachinery/equipment must be functional at district hospital Kishtwar to meetout any exigency.

He directed the deputy CMO to collect water samples atvarious spots of the district in cooperation with the PHE department and sendthe samples to the general laboratory for testing.

It may be mentioned that during a protest on Saturday, theprotesters had torched governor’s effigy alleging that the police and theadministration had failed to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of RSSleader Chander Kant Sharma, and Parihar brothers.

The mob also entered into the office of DC Kishtwar anddamaged public properties including the official vehicles of AdditionalDistrict Magistrate (ADM) and others.

RSS leader Chander Kant Sharma was killed by unknown gunmenon 9 April while BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar werekilled on 1 November 2018. On the demand of the local residents, NationalInvestigating Agency took over from the police the investigation into Pariharmurders.

In Sharma murder, there has been no arrest so far, althoughthe police said one of the culprits has been identified.
