Jammu Police issues statement to dispel 'misinformation' regarding death of person in custody

The J&K Police in Kishtwar district on Saturday claimed to have identified the main accused in the attack on RSS leader and his PSO at a local hospital here.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar district,Shakti Kumar Pathak said one accused Zahid Ahmad, a local resident of Kishtwarwas the main accused in the attack. He said they have also seized the vehiclewhich was used by the attackers.

   

“The main accused has been identified but is at large. Thereare more people involved in the case and police is on job to nab them,” SSPsaid.

Divulging further details about the investigations, Pathaksaid the attackers fled from back side of the OPD on OM Mehta road whichconnects with main highway of Kishtwar.

“A white colour Alto was waiting for them on Om Mehta road.Besides driver and the two main accused, some more people boarded the car. Thecar later left for Kishtwar main city,” he said.

The Rashtriya Swayamasevak Sangh (RSS) leader ChandrakantSharma was critically injured and his PSO died after a gunman opened fire onthem in Kishtwar on Tuesday. RSS leader later succumbed at Jammu hospital wherehe was shifted for specialized treatment.
