‘Highway stretch from Jamia Masjid to Jaswal Bridge Karool needs attention’

The residents of Maitra, Govindpora, Bhathi and other areas of Ramban tehsil have demanded from the concerned authorities to take corrective measures to improve the condition of old alignment of Jammu-Srinagar Highway from Jamia Masjid, Ramban, to Jaswal Bridge Karool, connecting several villages with the main town.

The residents complained that old alignment is in dilapidated condition with pot holes at several places, besides no regulation of traffic which cusses lot of inconvenience to the people.

The people said that the entire stretch from Jamia Masjid, Ramban, to Jaswal Bridge Karool, has been turned into a dumping site as construction material like heaps of bajri (crushed stones) can be seen lying at several places of the old alignment.

They said the alignment was constructed years back but has been abandoned since then.

They alleged that there are big ditches and the dust emanating out of the ditches is resulting in pollution thus resulting in related ailments.

They also alleged that traffic on this stretch is also not regulated due to which there is total chaos.

The people said that the matter was brought to the notice of concerned authorities but they did nothing to address the problems of the people.

They demanded from the concerned department to take preventative measures by removing dumping material like bajri from the road besides regulating traffic.
