Kishtwar journalists demand Press Club

The working journalists of Kishtwar Sunday demanded a Press Club at the district headquarter town.

The journalists put forth their demand during a meeting heldhere, in which they also discussed several key issues concerning them.

   

“Press Club for Kishtwar has been a pending demand sincelong. In 2017, the former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti sanctioned Rs 10 lakhfor the same purpose, but nothing has been done on the ground till date,” theysaid.

“We have approached the district administration severaltimes regarding the demand for a Press Club in the district,” Waseem AkramButt, a journalist, said.

Another Journalist, Sheetal Sharma, said that the mediapersons in the district are working sans several facilities, the main beingPrees Club.

“Due to the lack of a Press Club in the district, pressconferences are either held in private restaurants or in public places like DakBungalow and Tourists Reception Centre,” said another journalist, ShafqatShaheen Sheikh.

They appealed to the Governor’s administration to look intotheir demand and redress their issue.

The meeting was attended by Dar Mohsin, Shafqat ShaheenSheikh, Waseem Akram Butt, Azhar Ali Butt, Sheetal Sharma, Ashiq Dev, MohsinRaja, Bilal Bhallesi, Muntasir Giri, Asif Butt, Ishtyaq Butt, Imtyaz Butt andRavi Vanshi.
