Kishtwar residents stage protest against power crisis

The residents of Semna Colony in Kishtwar staged a protest against the prevailing power crisis in their area.

The protest was staged in front of NHPC colony at Faisalabad in Kishtwar, where most of the company employees are putting up.

The protesters lamented that the entire Kishtwar district is being provided power supply from a 33 KV line, which was restored three days ago, but Ward 12 of the Kishtwar municipality area is still reeling under darkness.

The irked residents raised slogans against the power development department and the management of the contractor company.

While the protest was going on, the security manning the gate of the colony, locked it. “We will lock the gate of the colony, if electricity is not restored soon in our area,” one of the protesters, Gulshan Ahmad Mingnoo, said.

Meanwhile, the local station house officer visited the spot, but failed to pacify the situation.

On being contacted, the chief of the contractor company claimed that he had no knowledge about the protest.
