A landslide buried a dozen residential houses at Dogrun in Bathri area of Kahara tehsil in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. However, there were no casualties as the administration had already evacuated the residents to safer places.
According to SP Bhadarwah Raj Singh Gouria, the slide with huge boulders and shooting stones came down on about 12 houses in a far-off and hilly Dugan Bathri village, about 60 km from Doda town at 9 AM.
“According to initial reports, seven residential houses were completely buried under the debris of the landslide and five more suffered partial damaged due to shooting stones. Our team along with locals have started a rescue operation,” said Gouria, adding that so far there was no report of any casualty.
“After Bathri landslide incident on March 13 in which 3 dozen shops came under debris, as a precautionary measure and landslides warnings in vulnerable areas, people residing in these houses had been already shifted to safer places,” he said.
The Chenab region is one of the most disaster-prone areas of Jammu and Kashmir state.
