Man arrested, 10 bovines rescued: Police

The Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a man and rescued ten bovine animals from his possession, near Shan Palace, Ramban.

The police said, “Acting on reliable information, a team from Ramban police station, led by station house officer Vijay Kotwal, laid a surprise checkpoint near Khowbagh crossing on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. The team, during regular checking, intercepted a truck, JK14E 4283. On searching the vehicle, ten bovine animals were found loaded in it.”

   

The driver did not have the required documents and valid permission to transport the animals, the police said, adding that the animals were rescued, the man was arrested and the vehicle was seized.

The arrested man has been identified as Mohammad Aslam, a resident of Udhampur, they said.

An FIR has been registered and police are investigating the case further.
