The Jammu and Kashmir police Friday claimed to have arrested a man and recovered three hundred kilogram of poppy straw from his possession, here at Nashri in Ramban district.
A police officer said, “A team led by station house officer, Batote police station, Nazir Ahmed, laid a checkpoint at Nashri on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. During checking, a Truck, HR37D 5567, en route Jammu, was stopped. Upon its search, 12 gunny bags filled with poppy straw were recovered.”
The driver, identified as Nazir Ahmad of Boliwal tehsil in Himachal Pradesh, was arrested and the narcotics were seized, the officer said, adding that an FIR has been registered and police are investigating the case further.
