‘Man held with illicit liquor’

Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday claimed to have arrested a suspected bootlegger and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.

A police officer said, “On a specific information, station house officer, Ramban police station, Vijay Kotwal, laid a checkpoint at Bowali Bazaar in Ramban town. During checking, a suspect, carrying a bag, tried to flee from the spot after seeing the stationed cops. After a brief chase, the cops managed to apprehend the man.”

   

Upon his search, the man was found to be carrying 60 quarters of illicit liquor, the officer said, adding that he was arrested on the spot.

He identified the accused as Mohinder Singh of Ukhral tehsil in Ramban district.

An FIR has been registered and police are investigating the case further.
