Man killed, 4 injured in road accident

Ramban, Jan 24: A man was killed while four others sustained injuries after their car plunged into a depp gorge near Mahamaya Mandir on the Ramban-Gool road, late Thursday evening.

A police officer said, “A Scorpio car, JK14A 8181, en route Sangaldan from Ramban skidded off the road and plunged into a several hundred feet deep gorge. As a result, a man was killed on the spot while four other sustained grievous injuries.”

   

Rescue teams, comprising of local volunteers and police, rushed to the spot and launched an operation. They shifted the deceased as well as the injured to district hospital, Ramban.

Police identified the deceased as Majeet Singh (30), son of Puran Singh and a resident of Sangaldan. The injured have been identified as Imran Wani (35), son of Abdul Aziz Wani and a resident of Thetar, Banihal, Sandeep Singh (19), son of Sham Singh and a resident of Haroog, Dharamkund, Kartik (30), a resident of Bihar, at present IRCON Sangaldan, and Parvinder Singh (23), son of Sita Ram and a resident of Sangaldan.

Parvinder Singh, the driver, was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for advanced treatment.
