MC Ramban carries out anti-polythene drive

The municipal committee, Ramban, Wednesday carried out an anti-polythene drive in some markets of the district headquarter town and claimed to have confiscated 28 kilograms of banned polythene bags from the shopkeepers.

“A joint team comprising of executive officer municipalcommittee, Ravinder Kumar, chairman municipal committee, Amit Bharti, deputychairman, Mohammad Khalid Wani, along with other officers of the committeeraided various shops at Bus Stand and Upper Bazaar of the town and confiscated28 kilograms of banned polythene bags from the shopkeepers,” an official said.

   

He added that the shopkeepers were asked to refrain fromusing or selling polythene bags.

Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir government banned themanufacturing, stocking, sale and use of polythene bags across the state in2017.
