A trader from Banihal area of Ramban district who was missing for nearly a week was found dead on Friday, police sources said.
Ghulam Rasool Wani, 50, a resident of Tethar area of Banihal was missing from 12 July from Tikrri area of Udhampur where he had gone to buy sheep and goats.
Earlier in the day, locals staged a massive protest in Banihal on the vital Srinagar-Jammu National highway to demand the arrest of the persons who they alleged were responsible for his disappearance.
A police source told Greater Kashmir that the body of Wani was recovered from upper reaches of Tikrri in Udhampur.
He said that the body was recovered following the interrogation of a suspect Ashiq Ali Gujjar. “Gujjar confessed that he and another person were involved in the crime,” said the source.
