Month on, Gulabgarh villages reel under darkness

Several villages in Gulabgarh area of Mahore have beenreeling under darkness since almost a month, with the locals threatening tolaunch an agitation against the concerned department.

The residents of Lar, Khor, Gulabgarh, Kaidoora and Shabrassvillages complained that they have been living without electricity since over amonth. “Due to heavy snowfall, most of the electric poles and wires suffereddamages and the department has yet not repaired them,” they alleged.

   

They said that they have been forced to use traditionallamps and candles during the night, while charging the battery of their mobilephones is a big ask. “We have to travel several kilometers to get our mobilephones charged. Our kids are unable to study after the sun sets. We do not feelthat we are living in the 21st century. We are still stuck in the ancient era,”they said.

The irked residents claimed that they requested the higherauthorities to redress their issue a number of times, “but nothing has beendone yet”.

They appealed to the governor’s administration to look intothe issue and threatened to launch an intense agitation if their problems arenot redressed soon.
