Muslims throng Mosques on 1st Friday of Ramadan

On the first Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, all the Mosques in and around Bhaderwah witnessed heavy rush of Muslims, who assembled to offer afternoon prayers.

With heads bowed in obeisance and palms cupped insupplication, they prayed to the Almighty for welfare and for peace and socialharmony.

   

People in dozens were seen offering prayers on the roadoutside the historical Jamia Masjid Bhaderwah, in view of heavy rush on thefirst Friday of Ramadan. The Mosque committee had made proper arrangements forsmooth conduct of prayers.

The local administration had also suspended traffic on theroad for an hour in view of heavy crowd. Security was also beefed in and aroundthe town.

Other Jamia Masjids of Bhaderwah, including Jamia Masjid MohallahSarafan, Jamia Masjid Ghatha and Jamia Masjid Sadiqa Abad also witnessedmassive crowds on the eve of first Friday of Ramadan.

Pertinently, what started on Tuesday, the ninth month ofIslamic calendar will culminate with the festival of Eid-ul-fitr on June 5 or6, depending on the sighting of the moon.

During the month-long fasting, Muslims offer special prayersto rededicate themselves to the Almighty. “Fasting purifies one’s soul andchanges his/her lifestyle. It lays a foundation of discipline and enthuses asense of constructive thinking and working,” said Anjuman IslamiaBhaderwah President, Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh.
