Pochhal residents demand adequate drinking water supply

The residents of Pochhal village Thursday demanded adequate supply of potable drinking water in their area.

The locals lamented that their village is suffering due tothe paucity of drinking water. “We receive drinking water supply once every10-15 days. The department is playing with the lives of poor people,” theysaid.

   

Sarpanach of the panchayat, Kamlesh Kumari, said, “Theconcerned department has failed to initiate steps to provide drinking waterfrom alternative sources to Pochhal village.”

She further said that a deputation of villagers met hernumber of times and she assured them that she will talk to the concernedauthorities.

Meanwhile, the villagers claimed that they are dependent onthe pumps for drinking water. “The collective population is more than 2000 andthere is severe water crisis. We are forced to walk over 1 km to get water fromnatural sources or deep pumps,” they said.

The locals urged upon the administration to look into theissue and redress their grievance.
