Pochhal residents demand adequate drinking water supply

The residents of Pochhal village Thursday demanded adequate supply of potable drinking water in their area.

The locals lamented that their village is suffering due to the paucity of drinking water. “We receive drinking water supply once every 10-15 days. The department is playing with the lives of poor people,” they said.

Sarpanach of the panchayat, Kamlesh Kumari, said, “The concerned department has failed to initiate steps to provide drinking water from alternative sources to Pochhal village.”

She further said that a deputation of villagers met her number of times and she assured them that she will talk to the concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, the villagers claimed that they are dependent on the pumps for drinking water. “The collective population is more than 2000 and there is severe water crisis. We are forced to walk over 1 km to get water from natural sources or deep pumps,” they said.

The locals urged upon the administration to look into the issue and redress their grievance.
