Poor mobile connectivity irks Kishtwar residents

The locals say that services of other cellphone operators are also very poor and below acceptable levels

With mobile telephone services taking the next leap in the rest of the country, subscribers of different operators in Kisthwar district are grappling with poor connectivity, putting them to inconvenience.

Talking to Greater Kashmir,  Raj Kumar, a local resident Kishtwar said that he was using BSNL connection since for nine years but nowadays the network is giving him tough time.

 

“The services are going from bad to worse and it is impossible to make a proper call. Even the internet facility is of no use”, he said and alleged that the company charges its customers for false calls.

 

The locals say that services of other cellphone operators are also very poor and below acceptable levels.

 

“It is impossible to make calls smoothly. One has to make several attempts before a call gets connected. The internet services provided by BSNL, Airtel, Aircel,Vodafone and Reliance are of no use. They charge money even when no surfing of the Internet is possible”, said another local.

 

“The companies are increasing tariffs for internet usage on daily basis but they are unable to deliver the fast and smooth cellular and internet facilities to the subscribers”, he added.

 

The cellular companies have also been accused of completely failing to provide services in rural areas and far flung pockets of the district.

 

“The companies have failed the students, businessmen and traders who greatly rely upon internet and mobile telephony”, said the locals.

 

When contacted, several officials of these companies assured to look into issues being faced by locals in using mobile telephony and other services.
