A high level meeting of the revenue officers was held here today under the chairmanship of District Election Officer Ramban, Farooq Shah Burhari, in which preparations with respect to launching of National Electoral Rolls Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) were reviewed threadbare.
As per an official spokesman, ADC Ramban, ACR and Tehsildars of all Tehsils were present in the meeting.
The DEO apprised the participants that NERPAP has been launched by the Election Commission of India recently, which is aimed at curbing the defects in electoral rolls like multiple entries and repeating EPIC No's of the electors.
As a part of launching the programme in the district the DEO advised the participants to first of all sensitize the concerned stakeholders about the provisions and benefits of the scheme and then collect the requisite data for purifying, authenticating and then linking the epic database of the electoral rolls with the Adhar numbers of the electors issued by the UIDAI.
"This scheme envisages two levels of Adhar feeding. In the first level the electors can themselves feed their Adhar data in the epic database by way of National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) or SMS to "51969" or E-mail or mobile app or by making a call at toll free number 1950 to state call centers or by submitting the details of Adhar number and EPIC number in hard copy to the concerned BLOs, AEROs, EROs", the spokesman said adding "In another level the BLOs shall collect the details of electors themselves during door to door surveys, voter facilitation centers, e-seva centers and citizen service centers authorized by the DEO".
The DEO directed all the concerned officers to commence with the sensitization of electors by way of SVEEP and exhorted upon them to accomplish the targets within the set time frame by the Election Commission of India.
